Summary: The hotel was beautiful to look at inside and out. Our room was nice, but unfortunately had a room with a view of the parking lot. Considering all of the lush, green plants everywhere, this was a disappointment. We only stayed 1 night as this hotel will shuttle you to the airport, even very early hours. There was some confusion as my confirmation stated I needed to set this up 36 hrs in advance. When I did this through the confirmation email on the app, I was then told to email the hotel directly. Upon doing that, I received another email stating this is done at the desk upon check in. That whole process was extremely aggravating. Not to mention the shuttle runs every 2 hrs meaning we got to the airport extremely early. We arrrived late afternoon and looked forward to a swim and a drink by the pool....only to find out the pool closed at 5pm. Who does that??? We went to the lounge (we were given 2 free drinks at check in) and ordered our 2 free drinks and then never saw our waiter again. I'm guessing he assumed we were only there for the free drinks. We decided to sit and the bar so that we can get food and mores drinks. That bartender was extremely nice and made wonderful drinks. It took another 30+ minutes to get our club sandwiches and well...they were not that good. At least the bed and shower were nice!!

Summary: The place is great, amazing view, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired...The information on their documents say breakfast until 10:30am, but people at the restaurant say 10am, so if you were trusting the information provided in paper, too bad for you. Also they say 10, but they start picking up stuff at 9:30 so if you wanted coffee with sugar, not going to happen, or wanted napkins, it's a no too. Options at the buffet gets reduced at 9:30 too. And people at the reception can't be bother to answer questions for the guests right in front of them. Basically if you can stay without needing customer service or the angora restaurant it will be a great place to choose

Summary: I was quite happy with my stay at Barceló in San José. It is a good-sized resort that I was able to book for around $100/night. There are multiple restaurant options on site, the gym is very complete with lots of equipment, and there is a lush and very green area with walking paths behind the hotel. Good location, centrally located in the city. They do not have a hotel car that will take you to nearby locations but while in CR, Uber never took more than 5 minutes to get to me no matter where I was. The furniture in my room was a bit dated. That is not typically a concern for me but may be for some. Breakfast buffet is OK, nothing special but solid enough
